Yes we do! Although heat pumps in southern Idaho are not as common as traditional furnaces, we are well versed in maintaining and installing your heat pump for your home.

A heat pump is part of an HVAC system which is installed outside of your home opposed to inside like a traditional HVAC system.

Like an AC unit such as central air, it can not only your home, but it has the capability to provide heat. In cooler months, a heat pump works by pulling heat inside from the cold outdoor air, which then transfers it indoors, and in the warmer months, it is designed to pull heat out of the indoor air of your home to help cool your home off.

Theoretically yes, however unless there’s an absolute need to, it will cost you less by replacing your existing heat pump or furnace with another of its same kind. This will cut down on the labor involved for installation. However, if you’re adamant on making the transition, we can help do so.

As a whole, heat pumps are considered more energy efficient than furnaces, as they can transfer heat rather than generating it like a normal furnace does. This allows them to use much less energy to produce the same amount of heat. This is especially the case when they are compared to electric furnaces.

With that said, their efficiency can be impacted by extremely cold climates where they may need to work harder to maintain normal temperature. Although heat pumps exists in Idaho, we don’t see nearly as much as compared to a warmer climate state.

Heat pump systems should be maintained a minimum of twice a year just like any other HVAC system. This maintenance increment allows us to properly change and clean components as needed, as well as inspect for any wear & tear, potential issues before they become a real problem.

Yes, traditionally, you will find that heat pump systems are more common in climates that don’t fluctuate dramatically. For that reason, they aren’t super popular in Idaho where we tend to get very cold winters.
